Tosh Memorial Fund for Raptor Care

Tosh, the Red-tailed Hawk, educated tens of thousands of children and adults in 22 years with YSI. In her memory, we welcome your contribution to the Tosh Memorial Fund for Raptor Care at YSI. Our goal is to raise $5,000 for a year of specialized food.

Tosh, a red-tailed hawk, lived almost her entire 22-years with YSI. She became one of our most well-known animal ambassador after an injury meant she would not survive in the wild, and she was released to our care to live out her life, serving an important role as an educator and ambassador for birds of prey.

Tens of thousands of children and adults experienced and learned from Tosh through YSI programs and events. And a cadre of devoted caretakers ensured her well-being for more than a third of YSI's history.

All of our animals are important to us, and this one was especially remarkable.

We owe a debt of thanks to those who helped care for Tosh, not only throughout her life, but in her final weeks, including

  • Dr. Look and the wonderful staff at VCA Crocker Animal Hospital
  • Ashley and Jen at the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley
  • Sue and Colleen at The Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center in Morgan Hill
  • Sophia Bryan and Jayme Yee of YSI
  • All the dedicated wonderful YSI volunteers and staff that visited her and took her out for sunshine and walks to the creek
  • and D.J. Johnson, YSI's Sr. Curator, who was with Tosh her entire 22 years.

If you would like to honor Tosh's memory, and help provide food and care for other raptors in the YSI family, we welcome your contribution to the Tosh Memorial Fund for Raptor Care at YSI.

Thank you, Tosh, for all you taught us, and how deeply you connected us with nature.

We know now you are flying wild and free!
